Fernandez,
who spoke at Chelsea’s training ground in Surrey, was ordered to attend a sentencing hearing in Llanelli on September 11.

Court documents said his presence was necessary “to determine whether there are extenuating circumstances (including exceptional hardship) which do not justify disqualification.”

Fernandez won the World Cup with Argentina in December 2022 and moved to Chelsea from Benfica a month later for a British record transfer fee of £106.8 million.

He moved to the Lisbon side from Argentine club River Plate for £8.8 million in the summer of 2022 and made just 29 appearances for the club before moving to London.
